20 Pirate Activities for Kids

pirate party treasure hunt

My kids, especially Elias, have always loved pirates. There's something awfully interesting about those scallywag pirates, probably thanks to Jake & The Neverland Pirates. Living on the open sea, going on treasure hunts, getting crazy body modifications like peg legs and hand hooks – pirates are the kind of nautical adventurers kids love.

Whether your kids have been bitten by the pirate bug and you are looking for something fun to do, or your having a pirate party or celebrating Talk Like a Pirate day, these 20 pirate activities will inspire you.

Your little pirates can make pirate puppets, pirate ships, and clothespin pirate dolls. Help your child make a treasure map! Create a treasure hunt in the backyard – you can make Hodge Podge Craft's giant salt dough doubloons to hide. Your own pirates will have to work together to follow the map and find all of that glorious gold. Walk the Plank is a fun way to teach skip counting. Get your crew together and have a blast with these pirate activities!
