Throwback Thursday Stories: Dad Edition + $100 Home Depot Gift Card Giveaway

Throwback Thursday Stories

Welcome to Throwback Thursday Stories where each week we share and link-up the stories behind our Throwback Thursday photos. It’s an awesome opportunity to document untold stories about the photos in shoe boxes, scrapbooks and hard drives in your home. Today's post is sponsored by Home Depot.

With Father's Day being this weekend, I thought it would be fun to do a dad edition of Throwback Thursday & $100 Home Depot gift card giveaway (what Dad doesn't love Home Depot?!).

DadJess
As a child, I remember how much my Dad loved to play with my sister and me. He always got down to out level. I have always loved this photo.

You can see his red name badge (for Target, where he worked for 25 years). Judging by my plate, it was dinner time, and he had probably just gotten home.

Whenever we were eating he used to say, “Good stuff, Maynard!”

I love that you can also see so much of the living room in this picture. The green carpet and the brown couches. I remember how velvety soft those couches were and how the tall mirrors lined the living room wall. My parents bought my great-grandmother's house from my Dad's parents when they got married. I think it is so neat that I ran through the house that my great-grandparents lived in.

Dad was always being funny with us. I remember him dressing up in a dress one time just to get laughs at a birthday party for my sister, wearing funny hats to school (like a shark and a goofy) or letting us play “bull” and we would ride on his back and giggle and giggle as he bucked like a bull.

He is also super handy and was always doing stuff around the house and building things.  (He got that from his dad.) Though I didn't pick up the handy gene, Matthew and I are always grateful when Dad comes to help at our new house.

Thank you Dad for always being willing to play when I was little, and help and listen as an adult! Happy Father's Day!

HomeDepot

In honor of Father's Day this weekend, Home Depot is giving away a $100 gift card to one lucky reader.

I am a bit behind on Father's Day shopping this year (story of my pregnancy!) and it was so easy to know that I could get three gift cards, one for Matthew and one for each of our Dads and know that they all would love it. (If you can't make it to the store, you can do an egift card – and they even have Hallmark greetings to go with them!)

We decided to give Matthew his gift early since my mom and sister are coming to visit this weekend. He has taken up wood carving, so Elias made a card that says “Love you to bits” and we attached 2 dremel bits to it. On the inside was a Home Depot gift card. It was perfection.

HomeDepot2
Home Depot has something for everyone making it easy to bundle a gift card with that special something. I know my Dad never has  trouble finding something at Home Depot.

The giveaway ends tomorrow night, so enter right away using the Rafflecopter. *You do not have to link-up to participate in the giveaway! However, if you do link-up, you'll get an extra entry!*
