31 Days :: Making Videos

This is the seventh day in a series: 31 Days of Memory Keeping. Check out all the posts here.

With today's technology, it is so easy to make videos. We have made dozens of videos of our kids using our iphones!

Videos are a timeless way to capture your family's story.

Here are 25 video ideas (in no particular order):

  1. Baby's birth story
  2. Your child singing the ABCs
  3. Your baby laughing
  4. Your baby eating food for the first time
  5. Dancing with a loved one
  6. Every day life stuff – brushing teeth, getting dressed, waving etc.
  7. First words
  8. Baby sign language
  9. Walking
  10. Sports games
  11. Family outing to the zoo
  12. Yearly video on child's birthday
  13. Videos about parenting stories
  14. Playing cars
  15. Playing with dolls
  16. Bathtime
  17. At the pool
  18. Halloween
  19. Classroom – meet the teacher, friends, etc.
  20. Coloring
  21. Prom
  22. Special banquets and awards
  23. Concerts
  24. Recitals
  25. Airplane rides
  26. Reading a story
  27. Singing songs/making music
  28. Bike rides
  29. Games
  30. Camping

Last year Matthew made a best of Elias video. We now plan to do it every year. Check it out.

What can you make a video of today? Adeline and I are headed to Maryland to visit Matthew's family for the weekend, so we will make a video of them with Adeline.

What a great idea! I don’t have an i-phone, but I try to take video on my camera. I tend to forget that it’s an option though. Maybe if I stick your checklist on my fridge, I’ll remember. 🙂 Super cute video; super cute boy.

We take short videos of my daughter all the time but I find myself unsure of what to do with them! I can’t really scrapbook them. I don’t know how to store them and make them usable so that we will watch and appreciate them for years to come. It’s a dilemma I’ve been pondering a lot lately.

I definitely agree wholeheartedly with this. Back in the day I was all about the photos but there is nothing like a video to take you back. My kids would much rather watch videos of themselves then my books of layouts. I wish I would have taken more.

I love the video you made and that it was funny! Him singing was my favorite part! Thank you for sharing. A yearly video summary is a cool idea!

Oh, that was awesome! I’ve been videotaping my now-8-month-old with plans to put some of the best snippets together in a short video that won’t take days to weed through. 🙂 This has given me new inspiration!

We’ll of course store it on a hard drive, but I’m also planning to burn a copy to a DVD that I can store in his baby book. The plan is to do this every year.
