I read this book as an effort to read more books from my shelves, as I own hundreds of unread books. An endorsement said for fans of The Help, which is a fair endorsement, though I didn't love this like I did The Help. It was a good read in terms of understanding a bit more about racism in the 50s, but I found myself wanting some of the characters to be better developed. It was interesting to read it in the same month as I'm Still Here. 3.5 stars
