Gosh, it feels like it has been forever since I last wrote just to say hello and post an update. Probably because it has been forever! I find that I am more active on Instagram these days than the blog, but I have missed blogging and am planning to begin posting regularly again. With all my surgeries in 2018 + the book launching, I didn’t have enough bandwidth to write on here as well. I didn’t even post the kids birthday parties from 2018 (though I still plan to post them because they were sooo fun!).
Most recently, Ezra turner FOUR on New Year’s Eve and he survived getting rid of his paci. The baby days are officially behind us. We also are currently touring MIDDLE SCHOOLS for Elias. What is happening?
We also preparing to have our living room remodeled. We have wanted to remodel our entire lower level since we moved into our house, and 2019 is the year that it is finally happening. The living room is half our lower level, so getting this done is going to feel so good (though I know it is going to really make me want to get everything else finished).
For the living room, we are having the popcorn texture removed and getting can lights put in the ceiling. The room, which is 15’x25′ doesn’t have ANY lights in it, so this will be a big change.
We are also having all the molding taken down and shiplap installed in the entire room. The room is currently wallpapered, and I am so excited to cover it all! Moreover, our house is all cream, so the change to white will be pretty dramatic. I am so excited.
The goal is to have the whole thing done in eight days. It’s aggressive, but doable. My mom and sister’s family are coming to visit on January 31. It will be exciting to have everything fresh for their visit.
Books, books, books
Many of you noticed that during the second half of last year, I stopped posting my monthly reading updates. I started a bookstagram account last year (do you follow @Booksnobbery), so I definitely still talked about books a lot, just not here on the blog. A LOT of you missed the posts though, so I promise to start them up again! I’ve already read 3 books this year, so 2019 is looking good in the reading department.
I’m delighted that my new book Stretched Too Thin is still on sale for $1.99, so be sure you grab it at that low price if you haven’t read it yet.
Also, Matthew’s new children’s book, When I Pray for You, releases next month. We are so excited about the way this book is going to impact parents and kids alike. For the launch, we are working on a special little project with Amy Grant, and y’all, it is soooo sweet. You are going to LOVE it!
Get it girl!
After more than a year of talking about it, I finally bit the bullet and hired a personal trainer at the YMCA. With having my abs sewn back together at the end of 2016, then my hysterectomy 18 months later, I knew that I needed to have a coach to help teach me what to do, how to do it, etc. I hate it every week, but am really proud of the way I am sticking with it. Read more about my commitment here.
Well, I think those are most of the highlights. If you are eager for me to write more on a topic in the coming months, will you leave a comment on this post. I want The Mom Creative to be a place you enjoy visiting, so tell me what you love, what you’ve missed, etc.! 2019 marks my 13th year of blogging. Thank you for sticking with me on this journey as my kids have grown, my career has changed, and the Internet has evolved. I don’t take any of it for granted.
