Project Life Tuesday: March Link-Up

Project Life Valentines
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2014 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited five-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky two-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.

On the first Tuesday of each month, I share my most recent spreads as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. Some links are affiliate links.

Welcome to the first monthly Project Life link-up of 2014. I am excited to share roughly six weeks of spreads today. As I mentioned last week in my video, I decided to start this year doing a monthly approach for Project Life because I was so behind. While my pictures are still mostly chronological, I am not limiting myself to one spread per week. Once I get caught up, I might go back to my weekly format, but I’m not sure.

A couple things you’ll notice, especially if you have followed my Project Life pages for awhile:

  • A lot of 4×4 Instagrams- I uploaded mine and Matthew’s Instagrams to Walgreens and printed two months worth at one time.
  • A mix of kits – I have acquired quite a collection of full and partial core kits, as well as theme cards, so this year my album will really have a bit of everything in it.
  • No stamped dates – I have always stamped my weekly dates, but this year I am just handwriting them, which won’t force me into a weekly or monthly format.
  • Standard size photos – All of my photos were developed at Walgreens. I do plan  to add a couple large photos in, but for now, everything is 6×4, 4×4 or 3×4 (which I trimmed from 6×4 pictures).
  • No extra embellishments – with the exception of a sticker on one journaling card, I used no extra embellishments. My primary focus is to document and keep things simple.

And what you might not notice, but is worth mentioning – I did NO preplanning of my pages. I just printed all the photos I wanted to include and went from there. I didn’t use all the photos that I printed, but it still kept the process very easy!

It was a bit of a miracle that I got my cover page done. I always plan to do it later, and then I never get it done. The cards were all from the Honey core kit. I was going to embellish some of the cards, but after playing with it for 20 minutes, I just decided to keep it simple and move on.

Spread1Here you can see I used a Design A page, along with a Simple Stories 6×8 page. I wrote January 2014 on the date card.

Here you can see the first of several 12×12 pages with 4×4 slots that I used for all my Instagrams. I used a 4×4 journaling card from the no-longer-available exclusive HSN Just Add Color kit.

Spread3I then have an entire spread of Instagrams, with a Project Life 6×9 planner card in the center as a journaling card for all the photos. I wrapped a sticker along the bottom of the card. These cards are available exclusively at Michaels.

Spread4I really love how the card turned out and the focus on the photos.

Spread5On the next spread, I think I need to remove one of the Instagrams and add a journaling card in. I probably will remove the highway photo. The opposite page is a Design G filled with pictures of the kids playing in the snow when we went to Wisconsin.

For the next spread I used one journaling card for all the photos. Again, keeping it very simple while including all the photos that I wanted to.

Spread7This is the last spread from our Wisconsin visit. I especially love all the snow pictures.

Spread8Here starts my late January -February pages, which I noted in the top left page. I also used a 8×8 page with four 4×4 slots to include a few Instagrams that didn’t fit in the 12×12 Instagram page behind it. I also used another Just Add Color card.

Spread9Here you can see the back of the Instagram page – again one journaling card for the page. I also wrote directly on the bottom right Instagram. I then used a Design B on the right. I always love when I use this style page, I think because the 4×3 photo orientation is one that I don’t use often. All photos were trimmed from 4×6 after I developed them.

Spread10The last spread is all Valentines. I used a pink and a red journaling card to keep with the theme. I love, love, love this spread.

WHEW! That was a crazy amount of pages, wasn’t it? I did all the journaling and several spreads of photos just this past weekend, which is a good reminder that Project Life can be kept very simple and you can get a lot done in just a few hours.

Deal Alert
It’s worth mentioning that the Project Life Baby Edition Core Kit is still marked 50% off, despte the fact that the sale was supposed to end a couple weeks ago. Get it for just $14.99!

I love looking at your awesome pages every week. You inspire me to keep trudging along when I want to quit because I’m certain I will NEVER catch up (not weeks or months behind….try YEARS!). Would you mind re-posting the link you shared a few weeks ago to the facebook PL shop and swap page? It says membership in the group is by invitation only….I sent a request but never got a reply, so wasn’t sure if it’s restricted to only certain people? Thanks for posting your layouts every week!

I didn’t get an invitation to the group – just asked to join. Here is the link:

Would you please share what kits you used…specifically for the green title card for January 2014, the green title card with “Memories” on it, and the red, “I love (box)” card? Love these…thank you!! I so enjoy your Project Life posts!!

Sorry, I keep my cards in a big bin and not separated out by kits. I know the love card is from the Sunshine kit, but I don’t remember the other one.

Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks so much! I may need that kit! LOL I keep debating separating my kits and sorting by color, but I just haven’t done it yet… I did find the two green cards in my “Just Add Color” kit…I hadn’t properly gone through that one, but I’ll be using it now!! :-) Thanks so very much!
