Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2014 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited five-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky two-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.
On the first Tuesday of each month, I share my most recent spreads as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. Some links are affiliate links.
Welcome to the first monthly Project Life link-up of 2014. I am excited to share roughly six weeks of spreads today. As I mentioned last week in my video, I decided to start this year doing a monthly approach for Project Life because I was so behind. While my pictures are still mostly chronological, I am not limiting myself to one spread per week. Once I get caught up, I might go back to my weekly format, but I’m not sure.
A couple things you’ll notice, especially if you have followed my Project Life pages for awhile:
- A lot of 4×4 Instagrams- I uploaded mine and Matthew’s Instagrams to Walgreens and printed two months worth at one time.
- A mix of kits – I have acquired quite a collection of full and partial core kits, as well as theme cards, so this year my album will really have a bit of everything in it.
- No stamped dates – I have always stamped my weekly dates, but this year I am just handwriting them, which won’t force me into a weekly or monthly format.
- Standard size photos – All of my photos were developed at Walgreens. I do plan to add a couple large photos in, but for now, everything is 6×4, 4×4 or 3×4 (which I trimmed from 6×4 pictures).
- No extra embellishments – with the exception of a sticker on one journaling card, I used no extra embellishments. My primary focus is to document and keep things simple.
And what you might not notice, but is worth mentioning – I did NO preplanning of my pages. I just printed all the photos I wanted to include and went from there. I didn’t use all the photos that I printed, but it still kept the process very easy!
It was a bit of a miracle that I got my cover page done. I always plan to do it later, and then I never get it done. The cards were all from the Honey core kit. I was going to embellish some of the cards, but after playing with it for 20 minutes, I just decided to keep it simple and move on.
Here you can see I used a Design A page, along with a Simple Stories 6×8 page. I wrote January 2014 on the date card.
I then have an entire spread of Instagrams, with a Project Life 6×9 planner card in the center as a journaling card for all the photos. I wrapped a sticker along the bottom of the card. These cards are available exclusively at Michaels.
On the next spread, I think I need to remove one of the Instagrams and add a journaling card in. I probably will remove the highway photo. The opposite page is a Design G filled with pictures of the kids playing in the snow when we went to Wisconsin.
For the next spread I used one journaling card for all the photos. Again, keeping it very simple while including all the photos that I wanted to.
Here starts my late January -February pages, which I noted in the top left page. I also used a 8×8 page with four 4×4 slots to include a few Instagrams that didn’t fit in the 12×12 Instagram page behind it. I also used another Just Add Color card.
Here you can see the back of the Instagram page – again one journaling card for the page. I also wrote directly on the bottom right Instagram. I then used a Design B on the right. I always love when I use this style page, I think because the 4×3 photo orientation is one that I don’t use often. All photos were trimmed from 4×6 after I developed them.
WHEW! That was a crazy amount of pages, wasn’t it? I did all the journaling and several spreads of photos just this past weekend, which is a good reminder that Project Life can be kept very simple and you can get a lot done in just a few hours.
It’s worth mentioning that the Project Life Baby Edition Core Kit is still marked 50% off, despte the fact that the sale was supposed to end a couple weeks ago. Get it for just $14.99!
