Enjoy Summer’s Last Days: Popsicles Outside

by jessicaturner on August 29, 2013

Matthew and Elias had some Daddy time this week, so consequently, Adeline and I had some mommy time. It was after dinner and she really wanted a popsicle.

I can’t resist when she follows her requests with, “you’re my best friend in the world,” so I gave her one, though she hadn’t done a great job with dinner.

She sat in the living room, slowly licking it and I knew this wasn’t going to end well. I had visions of that strawberry ice cream all over my rug, so I said “let’s go on the deck pretty girl.”

She yelled, “yay!”, quickly scampering to the patio door. As we stepped onto the deck, she said, “come on mommy, let’s go,” running to our Sam’s Club patio table.

I plopped on one of the pretty chairs, her legs barely reaching the edge of the green cushion.

As soon as she was comfortable, I spun her. She laughed loudly, enjoying that dripping popsicle and the slow, simple circles.

I snapped photos and smiled, my heart full.

I can’t put into words the joy Adeline brings to our lives. She is the perfect combination of spunk, sass, life and love. And sometimes in the littlest moments, liking sitting at a table eating a popsicle puts all that into perspective.

With a long-weekend coming, what will you do to savor these sacred last days of summer? It doesn’t have to be fancy. Just a spinning on a patio chair with a dripping popsicle in hand will do.

Take a photo and store the memory in your heart. Adeline on that chair will forever be part of my 2013 summer memories. Moments don’t have to be big to be special, do they?

And these summer days are fleeting…

This is the fourth and last in a series of posts about the patio table sent to me for review by Sam’s Club. Check out Sam’s Club for some great deals on summer products right now!  All thoughts and love for it are my own. Read part one here, part two here, and part three here.

I know we’re friends and all but Adeline is seriously such a strikingly beautiful kid :) In other news, I want patio chairs that spin! I love spinning chairs, I have a total thing for them!

I love spinning chairs too – especially with little kids. Hope we can get our kids together soon. Scarlette is equally beautiful. :) She and Adeline would be quite the pair.

Oh my gosh! Those photos are gorgeous. What a happy girl you have there. It is so clear that she adores the person behind the camera!

I love the idea of taking just one moment and experience and truly magnifying it and capturing ti the way you have with your adorable daughter. We forget how fast the days and years go by- and these moments- just enjoying a popsicle- these are the moments we will want to etch in our memory banks. Thanks for the reminder.
