Project Life Tuesday: Week 26

by jessicaturner on July 24, 2013

Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited five-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky two-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.

Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts (some links are affiliate links).

Thank you for grace as this post is on Wednesday and not Tuesday. With the big Will and Kate baby post on Monday afternoon + plans Monday night, I knew that Project Life Tuesday was going need a little delay.

This spread marks my last completed spread in my album. For those of you that are keeping track, that means I am three (almost four) weeks behind. But I have nothing going on this weekend and plan to do some catching up again. I have already started tackling the beginning of July – yay! I can’t believe how fast this summer as flown.

Week 26: June 23-29
Pages used: Design B, Design H, 8.5 x 11 (Horizontal), 6 x 12 for 4×6 Photos (American Crafts) and Design A

After the massive week 25, I kept week 26 super simple. I didn’t have a ton of photos for this week (despite using multiple inserts) and therefore worked in more journaling cards, as you’ll see on the last page.

Something new for me: I wrote several of the journaling cards during the actual week and stuck them in my album ahead of developing photos and doing the spread.

The first page I divided into two sections. The first column was about Adeline’s birthday presents and the other two columns were about mud day at the kids’ school. I used a .08 pen for the titles on the journaling cards and then wrote the text with a .03 pen.

The Design H insert had more mud day photos on the front of it.

The back of the insert was an assortment of photos with one journaling card about them all.

The horizontal 8.5×11 insert has a drawing Elias made for Daddy in it. I inserted Adeline’s birthday cards in the back and sealed the page with some washi tape.

I then added a trimmed American Crafts 4×6 page of photos of Adeline. I originally intended to not have this insert and set up the last page differently, but I had so much I wanted to say, that I decided to add another insert.’

You can see that I did an initial Thicker on one pic of Elias and one pic of Adeline in this spread. Very simple, but sweet.

The last page contained my date card (I need to stamp the dates on!) + the journaling cards I wrote throughout the week (they are all from the Dear Lizzy HSN kit). Matthew was away for much of that week, so I also added in a few instagrams from his trip (the 6×4 card is from the Honey kit). I also used a 6×4 card to write about FINALLY meeting that sweet Stephanie Howell and her family in person. (If you don’t read her blog, add it to your list. Love, love, love her.)

I loved having more words this week and think I need to start writing on more journaling cards during the week. I know that if I had just completed this layout, I never would have included all those stories.

Thanks for sharing. I sometimes try to write my journaling down for the week as well. It definitely helps to get the memory down!

I love that last page with all the journaling cards! Those tiny square collages are great. Thanks so much for doing the link-up each week. I love it! :)

Thanks for your kind words – and for reading.

I always love seeing your pages. I know that you love to include as many photos as possible and that as a result, your pages fill more than one binder each year. How do you split your albums and have you completed one album so far this year?

Last year I did two albums, but should have done three. This year I am doing three albums. Each album has four months in it.

I admire your ability to stay on top of memory keeping! I’ve been trying to get better by doing photobooks on Snapfish, but honestly, it wears me out. I think I’d be better off just printing a ton of pictures and putting them manually into albums so I can physically lay them out and see them.

Is there a way to tell in advance with Snapfish or Shutterfly will run sales on prints? I have some catching up to do, and I think that’s the most cost effective way at this point. Thoughts?

No, there is no way to know in advance, sorry!

And I should mention that while I am “on-top” of things this year, there are plenty of years that I am NOT on top of things. SO don’t feel bad!

I am just a newbie still, and haven’t done any real journaling yet. But you have me hoping to get some in as I catch up on the year!
