Motherhood Monday: What’s Going On These Days

by jessicaturner on June 4, 2012

How is it already June?! I feel like the year was just beginning! It has been awhile since I wrote an update/all over the place post. Here’s what’s going on in my world right now:

Yesterday we took the kids to the pool for the first time this summer. Oh my word, we had such a blast. I have a feeling we will be there A LOT these next few months – one of the bright sides of not selling our condo yet, I guess.

Speaking of the condo, we are really praying about what to do next. Probably another price reduction. Blech.

Last week, the kids started summer session at their sweet school. Both are in new classrooms and adapted quickly. We are so thankful for the teachers at their school. They love and teach so well.

We have been going to the library a lot lately. It has been so fun to introduce Elias to the magic of checking books out at the library. I’m so thankful we have so many great libraries in Nashville.

Adeline is pulling up more and more every day. Yesterday I put Elias in the bathtub and was getting some toys before putting Adeline in (she was sitting on the floor). I turned around to get them from the closet and when I turned back, she was standing at the tub – big shot! Guess we better drop her crib mattress!

We have a busy week ahead. Tonight we are having a much needed date night (with another couple) and are going to dinner and then to see Snow White and the Huntsman. Has anyone seen it? It’s my first movie at a movie theater since Avatar came out. I’m really excited.

Thursday, a friend of mine from college is driving through Nashville with her family. I haven’t seen her in about 5 or 6 years and am really looking forward to getting together.

Friday, one of my dearest friends Ann will be here for the weekend. We are SO excited to spend quality time together. She is speaking at an event Friday night, and if you are in Nashville you should definitely go.

Weight Watchers is going great. I have lost 12 lbs and am back to my Adeline pre-pregnancy weight. I still want to lose about 5 lbs, but I am feeling so much better about myself and fit into most of my old clothes. YAY!

Even on Weight Watchers, I always have room for some homemade baked goods. I definitely recommend trying these chocolate chip cookies and these cake batter rice krispie treats. Both are amazing.

With Father’s Day around the corner, this weekend I got my free Father’s Day card made, as well as Father’s Day gifts ordered. It feels good to have those things taken care of.

I am also in FULL party planning mode for the kids. We are having a brunch for Adeline’s first birthday at the end of the month and a superhero party in July at a local park for Elias. I have been sewing and crafting up a storm. My first birthday party and superhero party pinboards will give you a glimpse of my inspiration. The parties are going to be really fun.

Work-wise my job has changed a bit as most of my time is dedicated to a new online platform. I can’t wait to share more soon. It is really going to be an incredible resource for parents in Middle Tennessee and nationwide. I’m so thankful to have a job that I love.

Whew! What’s going on in your world?

We thought the same thing – loved the movie, but KS is just NOT a great actress. Keira Knightly would have been amazing.

You guys have a lot going on! I thought we were going to have a (surprisingly) mellow summer, but of course plans are taking shape that send us here, there, and everywhere. I’m trying to be grateful for the opportunities and not frustrated with the logistics. This takes some prayer. :)

So happy to hear what’s going on with your family.

I saw Snow White and the Huntsman on Friday night and LOVED it! The movie is visually stunning. Love your party planning boards! Little boys just love super heroes! I’ve been busy making lots of super hero capes this year since they’re one of my best sellers for Twinkie Jacks Boutique :)
