Yes, I Went to a Yanni Concert

by jessicaturner on April 26, 2009

Where do I begin? Not many 26-year-olds go see Yanni. In fact, I didn’t even know who Yanni was before February, when I was introduced to Yanni Voices at Blissdom. As someone who has always loved music and performance, I immediately was hooked.

Essentially, Yanni has mentored four up-and-coming diverse singers and put together and singing/orchestral show called Yanni Voices. How cool is that? What an opportunity for those four people – who are my age! The tour came to Nashville on Wednesday and I was blessed to receive two tickets. The show was AMAZING. Here’s a great montage video of the show.

My favorite of the four voices is Leslie Mills. I love her unique, rich voice. She was lovely to watch on stage. I was actually disappointed that she didn’t perform more in the show because I LOVE her voice live. Amazing. I met her at a blog event about a month ago and she was so sweet- and, she lives in Nashville.

Nathan Pacheco sings opera and WOW can he sing. If you love Josh Groban, you would love him. I love watching him sing because he clearly LOVES what he does. I had the pleasure of meeting him and Endre at Blssdom, and he is just as nice as he could be.

Chloe seemed to be the favored performer of the four voices. Not only did she sing the most, but she also danced a lot (according to her bio, she is equally trained in both). She is very talented and has an incredible voice. However, the only part of the show that didn’t seem to jive was the opening of the second act when she did a very sensual dance on top of the grand piano. Now, if the show had been Chicago, that would be one thing. But as a Disney produced production, it just really didn’t seem to fit. It didn’t help that she looks a lot like Miley Cyrus. :)

Ender Thomas is the latin singing sensation of the show. He added a lot of fun and flair to the production. He and Chloe had several numbers where they sang and danced together. He has a huge range to his voice and was exciting to watch.
A lot of people teased Matthew that his wife was making him go see Yanni, but they didn’t know what they were saying. The show was so fantastic. I would definitely go see it again if I could. The singer, musicians and production were all spectacular.

I have never heard of Yanni, but I watched a bit of the video (Not all sadly, because my internet is running very slowly today) and it looked like a really good concert! :)

I heart my 50mm 1.8, too. I would cry if I broke it. It is what is on my camera most of the time. The 85mm 1.8 is great, too. It just takes alot longer to save for, but I think that the quality is even better.

I signed up for swagbucks when you did the promotion for them on your blog-is there any way to earn bucks faster than getting one a day by using them as your search engine? I’m assuming you know a faster way because you just got your new lens again…I would appreciate it if you could share any tips!

I have an opprotunity to watch this. Is it ok to bring my kid to it. Is it appropriate for an 8 year old? Please advise. Thanks
