My Favorite Reads

by jessicaturner on January 19, 2009

I thought I would do a post of some of my favorite blogs that I read pretty much every day. I often find blogs through other’s recommendations, so here are mine. :)

Friends and Family
Jesus Needs New PR – Obviously, I love Matthew’s blog because it is such a great mix of funny, honest and satirical. He has such a gift for writing.

Bring the Rain – My best friend Angie started this blog to tell the story of her daughter Audrey Caroline. It has evolved into a world-wide community of people inspired by Angie’s faith and story.

Down This Path Called Breast Cancer – My Aunt Gail was diagnosed with breast cancer this fall and she started a blog to tell her story. She inspires me!

Without Wax – My pastor and friend Pete Wilson on topics about faith, the world and fatherhood. He is a good guy.

Brandi and Boys
– Pete’s wife and mother to their three boys. She writes about motherhood and daily life in the Wilson house. She is incredibly down-to-earth, fun and relatable.

Sara Frankl – Also know as GitzenGirl, Sara has become a true friend thanks to the internet. She has a disease that forces her to stay in her home and causes her severe pain every day, though you would hardly know it when you speak to her. She is full of more passion, faith and sincerity than most people I know.

Amber Ulmer
– Amber is a friend of mine and has a great scrapbooking eye. She is pregnant with a little girl named Josie! I can’t wait to see the baby pages she creates.

Scrapbookers
Ali Edwards – As many of you know, I am obsessed with all things Ali. I think she is brilliant. I love her philosophy toward life, parenting, scrapbooking… she is incredibly inspirational. You should read her blog even if you don’t scrapbook.

Stacy Julian – I am lucky enough to call Stacy a friend. She is one of the big “founders” of the scrapbooking industry and has inspired tens of thousands of people to become more simple scrapbookers ans storytellers. She has an incredible heart and passion for people and color.

Stephanie Howell
– Stephanie is a mother to two girls and wife to a hubby serving our country overseas. She is also a beautiful scrapbooker. You will likely fall in love with her if you start reading her blog.

Elizabeth Kartchner – She was CK’s Scrapbooker of the Year two years ago. She has a really cool style – both in scrapbooking and life.

Allison Davis – She was a CK Hall of Famer a few years ago and is now on their dream team. I LOVE her style. Lots of pictures, two page layouts, not super fancy… she rocks. She also has two boys – one is Elias’ age.

Becky Higgins – One of the big names in scrapbooking, Becky is famous for her scrapbook layout sketches and simple design. She also is the creator of many of the fabulous kits I love – including Project 365.

Mommy Blogs
Kelly’s Korner – She gave birth to little Harper, who had some complications, but seems to be doing better – praise God! Kelly’s infectious sweet personality will surely captivate you.

The Meanest Mom– I love her sarcasm.

Soule Mama
– Seriously. Amanda Soule is the author of The Creative Family. You must buy this book if you don’t have it. I am inspired to be a more creative, thoughtful mother because of her blog.

Adventures in Baby Wearing – I really just like Stephanie’s writing style. I am looking forward to meeting her at Blissdom.

What blogs do you read that I should be reading?

Even though our blog is about our Little Brandon Bear…it really is about some humorisms of motherhood. I have been working on the side with writing a book too.

Sweet list Jessica!

I absolutely love reading Stacy’s blog. In October she lost her baby boy Isaac at birth, just like Audrey’s story but a male version. She truly inspires me through her words http://www.sgirl79.blogspot.com.

Well- there is always my blog http://ev102007.wordpress.com , it’s a work in progress though as I try to get better at blogging. I am absolutely addicted to Melanie- aka Big Mama’s blog which I see you have listed in your links. I also read most of the same ones you do and them some of my friends blogs.
This blog is great too: http://girlygirl.typepad.com/girly_girl/ – Kristen in one of my favorite authors, if you have never read her books, I highly recommend them- especially the Spa Girls series.

Thanks for sharing!

The New York Times’ mommy blog, Motherlode, reviewed a bunch of mommy (and daddy) blogs in December. They’re all great; http://www.mattlogelin.c om is a personal fave (and was featured in People this week!). And then the comments listed a bunch more. Check them out here: http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/12/18/my-favorite-sites/
