Thoughts on Photos

by jessicaturner on October 22, 2008

I am currently uploading my October photos to Shutterfly. About every two-three weeks I upload the photos I have taken during that time. I was trying to do it every week, but seriously, it was just not happening. So, it is a little delight now every couple weeks to look back at the photos that have been taken.

Here are a few photos I didn’t post from when I did Ali’s week in the life challenge at the end of September/early October.

A comparison of our feet – As cute as my shoes are, I think Elias’s are a bit cuter.
Sweet baby hand wrapped around my finger
A look at Daddy
Matthew holding Elias after his bath.
Sleeping in our room with the humidifier going.
Clearly Elias is happy to be home.
My saint of a husband carrying Elias, my pump and Elias’s diaper bag up the two flights of stairs to our condo. He does this every day for me – which makes it even harder when he is away.

I think I am going to do the week in the life challenge again from Friday, October 31 – Thursday, November 6. Halloween, the election, my bible study – it will be a good week of photos.

Having a baby has changed the way I photograph. I want to record everything, in lots of different perspectives. I still take a lot of “smile at the camera” photos, but am trying to make a conscious effort to take more as it happens “real life” stuff. Leaving the camera out and available has really made an impact on this. Challenges like Ali’s also help me to be more aware.

What helps make you aware of your life’s story?

The Ali challenged helped me a lot… I think I’m going to sign up for Jessica Sprauge’s class too. I can’t wait to see what kind of ideas she has.

That is so sweet of Matthew to do that for you every day. To me, simple kindnesses are so much bigger to me than grand gestures. I hope you both alway hold onto those moments!

Last year, I invested in a good, digital camera that was small and lightweight. It was small enough to fit in my purse. I carry it with me everywhere and I have so many photos (not just of my daughter) that I would have never gotten because I wouldn’t normally have a camera with me. I highly recommend it!

Just letting you know you are a recipient of the Honest Weblog prize on my blog. You can go here to see if I say nice things about you:

PS: I totally wrote this one before the package came, so I wasn’t unduly influenced :)

As my children grow and leave home one by one. My first is a freshamn at Liberty University. Our next son is leaving next fall for Boston University. This a harsh but joyous reminder that part of me is leaving with them. That my life story has been around my children and their lives. I love that. I love them for just being them and loving God and their brothers and sisters.
Life changes everyday once you have kids. It seems to take a life of its own. So much going on, so many things change at a blink of an eye. They grow so fast and as we watch them and believe it so hard to understand we rejoice with them as they become adults and leave home. they may one by one be leaving my home but they will never ever leave my heart. I Tahnks God for them everyday. For the 8 hands, 8 feet, and 4 great personalities in my life. And Oh I love my hubby too! Sorry Andy. You are the best. xoxoxoxoxox

I love the picture of your husband carrying everything up the stairs. Such a simple way to help, but it makes such a difference, doesn't it? My husband began the same sweet habit when our daughter Olivia was born. He'd hear the garage door open and come down stairs and carry her & all her gear inside. She's almost 2 now, and he still does it!
