Big News!!

by jessicaturner on November 18, 2007

YEP! Matthew and I are expecting!! We are so excited. We just started trying in late September and are shocked that it happened so quickly. (I had bought a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and I am convinced that is why it happened so quickly. I recommend all women buy this book – you learn A LOT about your body! Seriously, pretty much all my “mom” friends are advocates of this book too.) According to the internet calculators, my due date is July 24, just three days prior to my birthday! Ironically, it is Matthew’s birthday today, so we both get a gift. :) Needless to say, our parents are thrilled, especially mine since it is the first grandchild on that side of the family. My dad is already calling himself Papa.

As you may have read, Amber and Josh were planning on taking our pictures Saturday for our Christmas card, so we got a double whammy out of the shoot- Christmas Card AND Pregnancy news. Here are a couple of my favorites.

After the shoot was our Courtney Delaura class at Scrapn’ Memories. We had a lot of fun. I will share pictures in another post… I had to buy the Scrapbooks Etc. Baby book and a couple baby rub-ons and paper. Lol. After class, Amber and I had a little time to kill, so we went to Old Navy, where I found maternity pants for $6!! YEA! They are for next spring- we figured I would surely be “that big” by the.

Matthew and I have both independently ordered pregnancy books already off Amazon, and I am thinking a third order is likely…

So, those of you who are Moms, what do you wish someone would have advised you at the start of your pregnancy? Please share!! I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Please be praying for us during this exciting season, as well as for the baby!

Congrats on your pregnancy. I bought that book and do agree, it is one of the best books out there and I wish I had it when I was in my early 20’s. Good luck and your pictures look great!

OH.MY.GOSH. My friends, I am beyond the moon happy for you. It’s seriously one of the coolest moments–this first bit of news as the congrats pour in, living with that sweet one inside, hugging yourself in excitement, SHOPPING–all of these things are cool, and then it’s over and you are on to the coolest adventure of your lives. That tiny baby is placed in your arms and you are never, ever the same. Aw, I’m all weepy thinking about it. I’ll call you this week. HUGS–Twila

CONGRATULATIONS! My only advice is to take a nap when you are tired. Everyone will tell you this and you won’t listen…but you should! Naps are great!!! Oh, and there is a great funny book to read: the girlfriends guide to pregnancy is awesome!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

congratulations! i am so excited for you all! becoming parents rocks your world (in both good and bad ways of course :) )
enjoy these last moments with just your husband and you…i wish people would have told me that. we were so excited for the baby, that we kind of got lost in it…and then the baby came, and 4 years, and 3 babies later, i kind of wish i would have spent more time focusing on my man! oh well, i’ll just do that when they’ve all moved out :) j/k!
anyways, enjoy this time…it’s so special!
congrats again :)

The pictures are so happy! Congrats and enjoy all the fun!
2 tips:
When you’re sick: eat some frozen water. It helped me.
I took some pregnancy Yoga classes. I’ve had a down to earth instructor, we had a lot of fun and I’ve learned a lot from the other girls. The girl that was sitting next to me during those classes is still one of my best friends (and our kids are friends to). All the best!

My husband really enjoys your husbands site so when I checked out yours I had to comment on this blog. I think I have a couple things I would of liked to have people tell me:
1. That morning sickness does not have a cuttoff point…I was sick the whole pregnancy.
2. That some of the things that happen when you are pregnant are disgusting. ha ha
3. It is amazing when you go into labor and the nurses tell you that you are going to stay.

I wish you the best of luck and the God blesses you with an amazing pregnancy.

Congratulations- I was roaming your blog and noticed your request for books. The best book out there is called “Baby Wise”- it is a book about getting your baby on a schedule. My friends swear by it! It focuses on a eat, play, sleep schedule so that the baby will sleep through the night. It is just great. I highly recommend it!! Good Luck!
